WD My Cloud is a free program that enables you to keep your PC connected to your personal cloud, no matter where you are. The program allows you to easily drag and drop to transfer documents or photos, manage your files and share links to specific files or folders via email. Download this app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10, Windows 8.1. I can see it using WD My Cloud and I can see it using Explorer. Took a little bit but you. Let's set up your personal cloud and create a My Cloud account. It won't take long. By clicking the Get started button, you consent to the WD license.

I have a WD MyCloud 4TB NAS. I was able to transfer about 116GB (31 mkv files) with no problems. Properties under Windows shows it's a Windows NT 4.9 Server. I use a Netgear 7550 Router Modem my ISP (Frontier) provided. I can no longer transfer any large files (>100MB) to the device without it 'crashing'. The error message claims there is no network connection yet I can clearly see the device and all the files & folders on it. I have to kill the transfer, delete all traces of the file from the WD, and sometime reboot. I doesn't matter if I transfer wirelessly or directly from the Seagate GoFlex Home (3TB) using the network ports on the modem. WD sent me a new unit and exhibited the same problem. WD Support did everything short of coming out to my place to try to diagnose and fix the problem (Now there's a story from Grimm's Fairy Tales). I have no problems with the GoFlex. I've switched ports on the modem and the problem continues. Could the 7550 be the problem. I had ZERO problems using a fiberoptic modem with Cincinnati Bell with the NAS drives, the HP wireless printer (which also likes to mess up since we went on the 7550)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And, no, there is no other game in town. It's either Frontier DSL or Frontier dial-up.
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.

Needs a little work still
The app says the auto upload will work faster if the app is left open. Which is true. But if the app isn't open, I don't think auto photo upload works at all. That could use some improvement. Maybe there could be a setting that if the battery is above a certain level, it will auto-upload the photos even with the app closed. Other than that, I really like both the app and my My Cloud. One other thing that would be nice - if I'm scrolling through the photos, when I tap on a pic to see it, when I go back to the list, the app takes me all the way back to the beginning of the list, instead of back to the place I was. So then I have to scroll all the way through all the listed pics to get back to where I was looking. Kind of a pain, because I usually have no idea where i was since you can’t see thumbnails of the pics in the list (thumbnails would be nice). Also, it might be nice if it would show an extra low res pic initially. I know you can tap on the HD button to get the full quality, but even the mid-range quality pics take a long time to display, even with a pretty fast device and connection. So the problem is that if you are trying to scroll through pics to find one, it takes forever because there aren’t any thumbnails to help you find the pic, and it takes so long to load each individual pic one by one that it takes forever.
Operates Nicely @ Home!
This app works great when I’m at home. When I’m on the road the majority of the time it won’t connect. It’s says that the drive is offline for the most part or some other lame messages but when I call home the family is watching content off of it. I have two iPhones and two iPads and when I’m on the road it’s no good. When I’m overseas I have the same issue. I use a VPN to watch my content at home and works fine but overseas and on the road it won’t work 95% of the time. Even on my laptop it won’t so frustrated with it. I sometimes get the same error messages at home, I turn it off restart and it works. That doesn’t however fix the on the road part. Some cloud app. I think I’m giving it to much of high rating but since I mostly purchased to back up everything it’s doing that. Having the capability to get to that info from anywhere is false advertising. I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation but I haven’t heard it yet. Because again it works sometimes but mostly not.

Was good
I’ve been using this app for years now to back up my photos on my phone. It worked fine until the last update. Now that my new phone uses the .HEIC format, I can’t open or view them. This is absolutely annoying considering I need to go back and retrieve older photos for work. The alternative method of changing the file format to “most compatible” is dumb and doesn’t even work for any pictures already saved as .HEIC files. Plus, there is a reason I would prefer my files in HEIC format so changing it would make it pointless. Not to mention changing it doesn’t work for 4K videos. I’ve tried going online to find a fix but so far all I’ve seen were others complaining of the same thing. Another thing that needs fixing that has been a pain for the time I’ve been using this app and I’ve been hoping they would fix, is that it doesn’t always show the thumbnail of the pics which can make finding a pic nearly impossible if you have 1000’s. WD, please catch up with the times and make it so those with HEIC files can view their photos without having to compromise space on their devices.
